Selecting a new sofa? Sound easy?
There’s so much more to consider than the comfort and colour when choosing a new sofa. Here are a few tips.
- SIZE MATTERS
One of the biggest mistakes people make is choosing a sofa that is too big or too small for their room. Wide armed sofas are not a good chose for smaller rooms, they waste space and make the area look crowded. Make sure you measure your space and allow enough space to walk past and around the sofa. Also consider window heights and door openings.
- Budget
One sofa may cost more than another, but consider how often you will use it and the cost to replace it! Investing a little bit more for a better quality sofa, which will last, will make sense.
- Finish
It’s worth taking a moment to consider you needs. Fabric or leather? Then what colour? That crisp white fabric sofa may look great in the showroom, but how will it be after your six-year old child jumps all over it? Leather can be easier to clean and may be a good choice if you want a lighter-looking sofa. Fabric can be cosier and comes in patterns and plains.
- Design
Does your living room have a beachy look, an eclectic or Hampton style, or is it more industrial? The design and style of your sofa can set the mood or break it, so consider the style of sofa you want. Is it sleek and modern? Does it have skinny timber or metal legs, lifting off the ground creating a feeling of extra space, or does it sit low with a skirt that reaches the floor for that country look.
